Mangalore, 18 August 2010: The students of Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication branches of Canara Engineering College have developed a solar powered tribrid two-wheeler named V-Spark-3, which will be inaugurated by the District- in-Charge Minister J Krishna Palemar on August 20.
Speaking to the presspersons on Wednesday, Electrical and Electronics Department Head Prof T N Shanbogh said that the vehicle will be launched on the occasion of Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Divas. “V-Spark-3 hybrid vehicle is an innovative project developed by five enthusiast students, where the vehicle runs in fuel as well as electric charge. The energy consumed by the electric transmission is refilled by connecting solar energy, thereby giving the vehicle the privilege of utilising three energy sources”, he said.
One of the team members informed that the vehicle has been duly tested and the college has already applied for the patent. “The total expenditure of the vehicle was Rs 1 lakh, which would be reduced under mass production. The system is nature friendly and a new model on the same grounds will be introduced soon,” he said.
