Mangaluru, 08 Jun 2017: In Dakshina Kannada (DK) district 21,01,494 Aadhar cards were issued so far, thereby reached the target of 91.66 percent, said DK Deputy Commissioner Dr K G Jagadeesh.
Dr Jagadeesh was speaking during the workshop on Aadhar seeding and related services that were organized for district level officers and Anganawady caretakers at district headquarter, here, on Wednesday, June 7.
He also said that a target has been set to enroll Aadhar for 22,84,222 citizens in DK district. In Karnataka, 6.1 crore citizens already own Aadhar cards and 37 lac citizens are yet to apply for Aadhar cards.
The gram panchayats across DK district will be streamlined to enroll for Aadhar cards to those who have not applied so far, added Dr Jagadeesh.
E-governance centre project manager Ravikumar said that Aadhar has become compulsory for majority of all government services. The workshop has been organized to clear confusion in Aadhar seeding for various programmes. The sensitization programmes will be held for Aadhar verification, e-signature and digi-locker. If the Aadhar card is lost, one can get a copy by accessing www.uidai.gov.in, similarly for any delay in delivery of Aadhar card. Meanwhile, one can call toll free number 1947 to get any info related to Aadhar.
The women and child welfare department deputy director Sundar Poojary said that tab has been issued to Anganawady caretakers to enroll Aadhar for children below the age of 5 years and 89 percent target has been already reached. In the next 1 month, the remaining children will be enrolled.
