Karkala, 12 Mar 2017: The education should be charity and should not become commercialized. Everyone has to strive for sustaining Kannada medium school without any other alternative. Meanwhile, the state administration has to take this issue seriously, said Belman parish priest Fr Sunil Joseph Veigas.
Fr Veigas was speaking after inaugurating Ratnavati endowment special lecture that was jointly organized by Kannada Shitya Parishat, Udupi district, Karkala taluk unit and Belman - St Joseph’s Higher Primary School – Kannada union at Belman School, near here on Saturday, March 11.
Rotary district literacy Committee – teachers’ empowerment president B Karunakar Shetty Manipal delivered a talk on education and teachers on the occasion.
Karkala taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Prabhakar Shetty Kondalli presided the programme.
The district president Nilawar Surendra Adiga delivered the keynote address.
Belman assistant parish priest Fr Joswin P D’Souza, Rotary district literacy Committee vice chairman B Pundalika Marate Shirva, High School head teacher Anita Kamalini, and others were present.
The district Top Teacher Award recipient – Kannada Sahitya Parishat district president Nilavar Surendra Adiga couple were felicitated during the programme.
The honorary treasurer Arun Rao welcomed the gathering. The school Kannada literary union students presented the welcome song. The teacher Vincent Pinto assisted in the programme. Kannada Sahitya Parishat taluk secretary Sudhakar Shenoy proposed vote of thanks. Prakash Naik compered the programme.
