Bantwal, 28 Jan 2017: A security guard of Infosys campus at Mudipu, near here died being hit by a motorcycle at Melkar Junction, near here on Friday, January 27 evening.
The deceased has been identified as fifty-year-old Mohan Manjappa Rai, resident of Virajpet, in Kodagu district of Karnataka. He was employed as security guard at Infosys campus, Mudipu, near here, and was living in a rented house at Kuriyadi, Ira gram panchayat, here.
Mohan had gone along with his brother-in-law to attend funeral of their relative at Uppinangady, in Kadaba taluk and were returning to Ira, while at Melkar Junction, he has parked his car to buy grocery and was walking back towards his car, when a marauding motorcyclist hit him. His brother-in-law lodged complaint with Bantwal traffic police.
The stretch of Melkar Junction is widening to facilitate 4-lane traffic, despite the bus-bay has been constructed, none of the buses stop; instead park in the middle of the road to pick up passengers. The parking for light vehicles is ignored that is causing road mishaps and serious injuries and loss of life. It’s the time; the authorities take early actions to streamline the facilities.
