Mangalore: 11 August 2010: Out of the 108 persons from Karnataka who were killed in the ill-fated Air India Express IX-812 crash, 80 families have approached the district administration to claim the compensation announced by the State Government Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
As many as 28 families are yet to claim the relief from CM’s Relief Fund. Each family of the deceased would get a compensation of Rs 2 lakh. So far, a sum of Rs 160 lakh have been distributed among the family members.
According to a press release, the compensation can be claimed by producing all the related documents at DC’s office, third floor in Mangalore. The original documents will have to be attested by the Regional Commissioner, Mysore.
However, the state government has given the authority to attest the death certificate, post mortem report and other documents to the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada till September 4. Accordingly, all the certificates will be attested in the DC’s office.
The applications which received by the office after September 4 will not be attested and considered, the release added.
