Udupi, 17 Sep 2016: Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, near here celebrated Teacher’s Day and Engineer’s Day on September 10.
Eminent engineer and renowned teacher Thekkekere Narayana, former principal - Maritime Training Institute, Mumbai was the chief guest of the function. He addressed the gathering and shared his experience as an engineer and the challenges faced in his lifetime.
Rathnakumar, secretary Shri Sode Vadhiraja Mutt Education Trust presided the function.
Principal of the college Professor Dr Thirumaleshwar Bhat spoke about the relevance of the celebration of Teacher’s day in the memory of Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan and the Engineer’s Day in memory of Sir M Vishvesvaraya.
Best Teacher award was presented to 3 teachers of the college, Adithya Kudva S of mechanical engineering department, Subbulakshmi N Karanth of chemistry department and Deepika B V of civil engineering department of the college.
Manoj T and Ramya D Shetty were felicitated for their role as Teacher Guardian in monitoring and guiding the students in academic, co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
Dr Vasudeva, head of department of computer science welcomed the gathering. Sahana Udupa rendered the prayers. Akila, president, student council proposed the vote of thanks, Vikas Udupa compered the programme.
