Udupi, 05 Sep 2016: Rotary Club International (RCI) – Shirva conferred Nation Builder Award to Ramanath Patkar Bantakal, headmaster of Vidyadahini Higher Primary School, Kutyar, near Shirva, during Teachers Day celebrations held at Rotary Bhavan, Bantakal, near here on Sunday September 4 morning. He was conferred the coveted Award in recognition of his relentless efforts in developing infrastructure at his school, helping the students to excel in studies and extra-curricular activities and his impeccable respect in society.
He has rekindled patriotism, love parents/teachers/elders with moral classes among the students, besides educated them on Indian cultural splendor by narrating the chapters from Holy Scriptures – Ramayana, Mahabharata, Bhagavad-Gita and enacting Yakshagana play.
He is also active member of Kissan Sangh helping the peasants to innovate in their farming.
RCI district assistant governor Dr Gururaj conferred the award to Ramanath Patkar and briefed about the Rotary India Literacy Mission that is embarked by RCI 3 years ago.
RCI – Shirva past president Melvyn D’Souza presided the programme.
Fr Mahesh D’Souza, principal of Don Bosco English School, Shirva, Rotary vocational service director William Machado, K R Patkar and Michael Mathias were present at the dais.
Dattatreya Patkar introduced the dignitaries. K R Patkar compered the programme. RCI – Shirva secretary Sunil Cabral proposed vote of thanks.
