Moodubelle, 03 Jul 2016: Members of St. Thomas II Ward celebrated the feast of their patron saint on Sunday, 3 July 2016. The feast mass was concelebrated in St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle by Rev. Fr. Alphonse D’Lima, Rector of the Diocesan Minor Seminary along with Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, parish priest of of Moodubelle.
The social celebration of the feast of St. Thomas was held at the residence of the Gurkarn of the ward, Mrs. Theresa Alva at 12 noon. Rev. Fr. Alphonse D’Lima, Rev. Fr. Lawrence Cutinha, Assistant Parish Priest of Moodubelle, Sr. Irene Viegas, Headmistress of Church Aided Higher Primary School and Alphonse Alva, Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council were the guests of honour.
The report of the ward activities during the last year were read by Mrs. Nancy Alva, Secretary of the ward. Children of the ward sang the prayer song as well as presented two dances. Alrick Castelino also presented a Konkani song.
Those members of the ward whose birthday falls in the month of July cut the cake along with the children.
Sr. Irene Viegas, Rev. Fr. Alphonse D’Lima and Rev. Fr. Lawrence Cutinha conveyed the greetings of the feast to the ward members and also highlighted about the greatness of St. Thomas, one of the twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ who is also known as the first missionary to India.
All the children who had participated in dances were given prizes. Two ladies who had attended the Small Christian Community (SCC) meetings for the maximum number of months were felicitated by Rev. Fr. Alphonse D’Lima.
Mrs. Theresa Alva welcomed the guests, Peter D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks and Miss. Ashwita D’Souza compered the programme.
