Udupi, 07 Jun 2016: In order to meet the healthcare needs in rural areas, Rotary Club Manipal Town (RCMT), Mogaveera Yuva Sanghatane-Hiriyadka unit, Palli Srinivasa Hegde Charitable Trust (PSCT), Kotnakatte Friends Circle (KFC) and Narthaki Friends Seva Trust (NFST) together organized a diabetes and diabetic foot screening, eye screening and ECG camp at Madhava Mangala Sabha Bhavan, Hiryiadka, near here on Sunday June 5. This was also a part of 80-Projects of RC Manipal Town and Silver Jubilee Celebration of KFC Hiriyadka.
Rotary district secretary Balakrishna Maddodi presided the stage programme.
Dr Padmaraja Hegde was the chief guest of the occasion.
Dr Tom Devasia, Dr G Arun Maiya and Dr Chaitra R Rao gave tips on healthcare, risk factors, diabetic foot and healthy life style.
PSC Trust secretary Nataraj Hegde, KFC president Divakar Bhandary and NFST honorary president Prabhakar Shetty were present at this occasion.
Dr Chandrashekar from University of Findlay, USA also visited the camp with his final year Pharma students to interact with doctors and organizers.
The stage program started with the invocation by Shatha and Srineetha, followed by welcoming the gathering MYS president Hiriyadka Balakrishna B K, introductory speech by the co-ordinator of the camp and secretary of RCMT Raghavendra G and thanksgiving by the NFST president Sachidananda Shetty. The program compered by Shravya.
More than 200 people participated in the camp, 137 people undergone diabetic tests, 145m for eye tests, and 90 for ECG. 10 spectacles were distributed free to needy patients and 10 deserving needy patients were referred to free cataract surgery at KMC Manipal. 62 people undergone free ECG.
Breakfast and lunch was also served by the organizers.
