Bantwal, 22 May 2016: The efforts are underway to award appropriate compensation to the victims of rain fury, while Rs 15 lac that was released instantly was distributed at the earliest, said district-in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai.
The minister Rai was speaking after distributing cheques to 160 people whose houses were damaged owing to heavy rains that lashed a few days ago, at his office, B C Road, here on Sunday May 22.
He further said, rain fury losses has been ascertained to be approximately Rs 2 crore, while the departments of revenue, horticulture, ZP engineering division, agriculture department and MESCOM are working on awarding appropriate compensation to the victims. Meanwhile, the revenue department has assigned additional village accountants to ascertain individual losses,’ said minister Rai.
ZP member Chandraprakash Shetty, Kamalakshi, Padmashekar Jain, town councilor Ramakrishna Alva, BUDA chairman Pius Rodrigues, TP vice president Abbas Ali, Ravindra Sapalya, Mayilappa Salian, Praveen, Gangadhar, Narikombu gram panchayat president Yashodar and others were present.
Tahsildar Purandar Hegde welcomed the gathering and proposed vote of thanks.
