Serving mother & homeland indeed noble deed: Fr Valerian

Karkala, 28 Dec 2015: ‘The place where we were born, neighborhood where we frequented in our childhood, shape our life.  It’s impossible to return debt of homeland.  Serving mother and homeland is indeed are good deeds,’ said Udupi catholic diocesan chancellor Fr Valerian Mendonca.

 

Fr Valerian was speaking during 33rd anniversary of Friends Club, Pilar, near Belman, here and Christmas get-together on Sunday December 27.

 

The senior teacher Pundalika Marate in his keynote address highlighted the virtues of Christianity in serving the poor and downtrodden, compassion to fellowmen, feeding the hungry that would indeed bring communal harmony in the society.

 

 

Shirva – Don Bosco Youth Centre rector Fr Simeon Fernandes, Vijaya Bank – Shirva branch manager Melvyn P Sequeira conveyed best wishes.

 

Friends Club honorary president New-Delhi based entrepreneur Maurice D’Almeida honored the achievers with mementoes.

 

Anil D’Souza welcomed the gathering. The entrepreneur Edward Misquit introduced the donors.  Nishant Machado read the annual report. Wilson Mendonca read the list of prize winners.  Denis Mathias compered the programme and proposed vote of thanks.

 

Pira Bannaga, Tulu comedy play was staged by the artistes of Suparna Kalavider-Shirva, as part of entertainment programme.
