Mangaluru, 22 Nov 2015: The Mini Vidhana Soudha, which will house offices related to Mangaluru taluk administration was inaugurated here on Sunday by former union minister Dr M Veerappa Moily.
Built at a cost of Rs 7.5 crore, the work on the building had commenced in 2008 but due to some delays it took nearly 7 years for completion. The building, consisting of ground plus two floors and a basement, will house the taluk office, sub-registrar’s office and other administrative offices.
Moily, while addressing the gathering stressed that such kind of taluk buildings will be beneficial to the people of Mangaluru where business and industry has gained predominance and also added that the state government would speed up work on other stalled and yet to be implemented projects vis-à-vis NH near Padubidri, Shiradi Ghat tunnel, road widening on the Shivamogga-Mangaluru stretch via Agumbe.
District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai, health minister U T Khader, youth affairs and sports minister Abhaychandra Jain, MLA J R Lobo, Puttur MLA Shakuntala Shetty, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, mayor Jacintha Alfred, MUDA chairman Ibrahim Kodijal and others were present at the programme.
