Puttur, 08 Nov 2015: ‘As computers are widely used today, acquiring computer education is the need of the day-to-day,’ said Professor Dinakara Rao, co-ordinator of PG studies in economics of St Philomena College, here.
Addressing in a preliminary session of workshop on ‘Open Source Software’ organized for the PG students of economics, Professor Rao said, ‘We live in a fast moving world where almost everything must come instantly to us. Computers help us to ease certain tasks, provide information faster, and speed up the work.’
The faculty members of PG studies in computer science of the College Professor Praveen N and Professor Akshatha B participated in the workshop as resource persons.
Professor Praveen N in his presentation said, ‘Open Source Software refers to software that is developed, tested or improved through public collaboration and distributed with the idea that it must be shared with others, ensuring an open future collaboration.’
Professor Pradeep K S, convener of the Planning Forum, faculty members of the department Professor Sandhya H and Professor Mahitha M were present on the occasion.
Laveena Cutinha presented the prayer song. The president of the Planning Forum Sahana compered the programme.
