Bantwal, 01 Oct 2015: The locals nabbed an alleged thief in a failed burglary attempt at Daddalkadu, in Panjikallu village, near here and handed him over to police on Wednesday September 30.
The burglars comprising 4 youth attempted to burgle Jagadamba Mahammayee Guliga Annappa Bhajan Mandir in Panjikallu village on Wednesday September 30 at 3.00am, when 3 of them fled from the spot when alarmed by the locals. A lone burglar hid in a nearby hillock surrounded by the determined villagers who nabbed him and handed over to police. The arrested has been identified as Irshad, a resident of Jeppu in Mangaluru city.
Irshad confessed that his accomplices Rafiq, Sadik and Prasad, all residents of in and around Mangaluru city were involved in attempted burglary at temples nearby.
The locals tied Irshad to a lamppost before handing over to the police. Bantwal rural police registered a case in this regard.
