Puttur, 27 Jul 2015: Suraksha Consumer Forum of St Philomena College here organized an awareness programme on Prevention of Communicable Diseases at Spandana Seminar Hall of the College here on Saturday July 25.
The resident medical officer of Primary Health Centre (PHC), Ishwaramangala Dr Tanuja Ponnappa was the resource person.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ponnappa said, ‘Dengue fever is transmitted by the bite of an Aedes mosquito infected with a dengue virus. The mosquito becomes infected when it bites a person with dengue virus in their blood. It can’t be spread directly from one person to another person. There is no medicine to treat dengue infection. In order to control mosquito bite we have to maintain our environment clean.’
The vice-principal of the College Professor Vishnu Bhat presided the function.
Bharathi B N, Ashwitha Joseph and Anusha P J sang the prayer song. The director of Suraksha Consumer Forum Professor Dinakara Rao welcomed the gathering. Mahima Maria Netto proposed the vote of thanks. Daina Joy compered the programme.
