Bantwal, 23 Jul 2015: The career in journalism is not the right choice for those who are after money, luxuries of life, said Udupi’s veteran journalist G K Madhyasta.
Madhyasta was speaking during Media Convention – 2015 themed Journalists: Challenges held at Odiyoor, near here on Wednesday July 22.
The journalists ought to expose the true nature of people who pose themselves as dignified in society. He/she should be focused on living a worthy life, added Madhyasta.
Manipal University – Gandhi and Peace Studies Institute director Dr Varadesha Hiregange said that it’s a challenge for journalists to grasp the new in proper perspective. The knowledge about the issue, research attitude makes its effect on such reports. Journalism has ample scope and facilitates one to multi-tasking, said Dr Varadesha.
Vartabharati – Kannada daily sub-editor Ibrahim Adkastala said that media has to educate the readers. The journalism has vast sphere, while the honest journalists are cheated in every stage, Ibrahim expressed his concern.
Ujire – SDM College head of department of journalism Dr Bhaskar Hegde said that media has become a major industry that has posed several challenges to journalists. The pressure on media industry has effect on the health of journalist, said Dr Bhaskar.
Mumbai-based Kannadiga Patrakartara Sangha Maharashtra® general secretary Rons Bantwal said that the journalists of rural villages face many challenges in reporting than their counterparts in urban areas. The rural journalists go after the issues till they find a clear breakthrough, however in the process in many cases they become insignificant.
