Bantwal, 02 Jul 2015: DCIB police nabbed a notorious motorcycle thief who was accused of stealing motor cycles in Mangaluru town and Bantwal at B C Road, here on Wednesday July 1.
The arrested has been identified as twenty-three-year-old Abhijit, a resident of Ajjibettu in B Mooda village, near here. The police also recovered a stolen motor cycle that he was riding during the operation.
On a sure tip-off, DCIB designated-assistant sub inspector Manjula and other police personnel laid the trap for Abhijit was riding a black color Bajaj motor cycle from Melkar to B C Road. Abhijit did not stop the motorcycle when he was signaled to stop, instead tried to speed away. However, the policemen were successful in nabbing Abhijit who confessed that he had stolen the motorcycle that he was riding from Empire Mall parking area a week ago.
He also confessed of stealing many motorcycles and tried to sell. Meanwhile, when he could not sell, he had dumped one such stolen motorcycle at Bambil, about 5 kilometers from B C Road here.
He was set free from the district sub-jail recently after he was behind bars for stealing many motorcycles and a car owned by an advocate from Bantwal. However, he has not reformed his ways, instead continued his ill famed profession.
