Udupi, 21 Jun 2015: A destitute youth from West Bengal was reunited with his family after four-and-a-half-years by the activists of Vishwasadamane, a home for destitute here on Saturday June 20.
The youth – Poornachandra (25) was found wondering in streets of Shankarapura, near here about one-and-a-half-years ago. The activists of Vishwasadamane picked up Poornachandra from nearby MGM College, Manipal, here as per the directions of their chief functionary Sunil John D’Souza.
He was lovingly cared for with medication for his mental ailment and was back to normal. A few days ago, he expressed his desire to return home and gave his address. When the staff at Vishwasadamane wrote a letter to his father Debanat, the latter responded. Debanat made a telephone contact with Vishwasadamane and arrived here along with Poornachandra’s 2 brothers.
Poornachandra was the last one in the family, who fell into bad company while studying in Class VI. He was addicted to alcohol and was treated for his mental ailment at Borampur, West Bengal. Meanwhile, he abandoned his family about four-and-a-half-year ago and went untraceable since then, despite lodging cokmplaint with Kandi police station in West Bengal.
However, Debanat and his other sons are happy to take Poornachandra along with them back to their family. They left Vishwasadamane after thanking the staff and chief functionary Pastor D’Souza.
