Udupi, 28 May 2015: The farmers need not worry anymore about spraying pesticide for their crops like onion, ginger etc. Here is a solution by the students of Shri Madwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal in collaboration with Krishi Vigyana Kendra, Brahmavar, that accomplishes this task economically and at lesser time.
Students of the Institute have designed and developed a semi-automatic liquid pesticide sprayer, which can be used for crops which are planted in rows. This is specially fabricated device which can spray the pesticide for four or more rows at a time. This academic project work was carried out keeping in view, the maximum utility for the farmers to spray the pesticide through a clean and hygienic environment, as well as simpler and faster. The product will be available at highly affordable cost to the farmers, if mass production takes place based on the demand.
The management and principal of SMVITM have congratulated the student team and the project guide for the work done, which is useful for local community and has a societal impact. Adheesh Shetty, Bharathesh Hegde and Sudarshan Shetty are the students of mechanical engineering who worked on the academic project under the guidance of Sudhir Bhat, Assistant Professor of mechanical engineering department.
