Puttur, 02 Mar 2015: St Philomena College, organized Talent Contest at College quadrangle, here recently as part of college day celebrations.
Dr N A Jnanesh, principal of K V G College of Engineering, Sullia was the chief guest, while addressing the gathering said, ‘There is a lot of contradiction in our education system and there is an urgent need to solve such problem and make education more meaningful. The so called ‘Educated People’ should behave in a more humanitarian way so that youth could be guided properly.’
Monsignor Denis Moras Prabhu, vicar general of Mangalore diocese and diocesan Catholic Board of Education deputy chairman, in his presidential address said, ‘There should be equality, harmony and co-existence in the society and the teachers should work towards achieving it.’
Students who secured ranks in the University exam and those who performed well in extracurricular activities were honored.
Fr Alfred J Pinto, correspondent of St Philomena College and Fr Vijay Lobo, principal of St Philomena PU College, Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, campus director and chairman of PG Studies, Professor Leo Noronha, principal of the College, PTA president Ganesh Rao and alma mater president Jaya Kumar Rai were also present.
Shrinivas S Tamboli, president of Students’ Council welcomed the gathering. Radhika Suresh, joint secretary of Students’ Council proposed the vote of thanks.
