Bantwal, 23 Jan 2015: The motion was set for holding workshops on Tulu script for the first time in the district in 3 state-run schools in the taluk here on Wednesday January 22.
The efforts of block education officer (BEO) to teach Tulu script to interested students was realised at state-run schools at Narikombu, Naila and Shmboor, near here.
BEO Sheshashayana Karinja inaugurated Tulu script workshop that was jointly organized by ZP, public instructions department, office of BEO and Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, by writing Tulu script on the blackboard.
Speaking on the occasion, Sheshashayana said that it’s possible to sustain Tulu by teaching it to higher primary school students. It’s an attempt in this regard, said Sheshashayana.
Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy member D M Kulal said that in order to extend the use of Tulu script, there lies the need to teach students in different schools. He also assured wholehearted support from the Academy.
The school betterment council president Ravi Anchan presided the programme.
The resource person B Tammayya, TP member Anand A Shamboor, retired teacher Nati Krishnaraj Shetty, Naila School headmaster Daniel Joseph Carlo, education department retired officer Dinakar, CRP Nagaraj, school betterment council member Krishnappa were the chief guests of the occasion.
The school head teacher Sharada P welcomed the gathering.
The workshop on Tulu script was held at Naila and Shamboor Higher Primary Schools.
