Udupi, 22 Jan 2015: Venkataramana temple that is situated in Katpady, near here which is one amongst 18 temples located in towns belonging to GSB community is undergoing reconstruction, whilst the wooden sculpture works indeed viewed by the devotees in awe as it’s unique.
The ace sculptor Harish Acharya, son of noted sculptor Kallamundkoor Narayan Acharya who had done marvels in sculpture at coastal district’s prominent temples such as Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, Mahalingeshwar temple – Puttur, Venkataramana temple – Mangaluru, Vishveshwar temple – Yellur, Venkataramana temple – Moodbidri leads over 60 sculptors in carving the wooden works.
The vastu compliant reconstruction of temple has episodes of Ramayana carved on wood around sanctums. The rosewood, jack and durable wood has been used for this task.
