Kumbra, 29 Dec 2014: Puttur BJP leader and Raitha Morcha Secretary Mohan Alva, the accused in the murder case of Neelaiah, a resident of Sanyasui Gudde in Kedambadi, has revealed that he tried killing Gowda last month, however his plan did not materialize, police sources informed.
Alva was arrested on Sunday, December 28 after he confessed to the crime to the police during interrogation.
Alva is said to have revealed that he had taken Gowda from his village towards Guruvayankere in his car last month with an intention to kill him. He inebriated Gowda and plotted to kill him near the lake in Guruvayankere. However, as the car reached Guruvayankere, Gowda got a call from his daughter and he informed her that he was travelling with Alva. Hence, Alva had to give up his murder plan.
On December 24, Alva again took Gowda in his car from Kumbra to Sampya. Alva himself went to a local wine shop and bought liquor for Gowda. At this time, a few people happened to see Gowda in Alva’s car.
According to the police, a clash on kumky land between Gowda and Alva caused enmity between the two.
After the murder, Mohan Alva had addressed media persons stating that Gowda must have been murdered as he was extorting money from influential people. Alva’s normal behaviour initially rescued him. However, based on valid proofs like call histories and the rivalry between the duo indicated that Alva as the accused. Also, the police took a cue from the stained cloth which was given to laundry by Alva. Based on the information received from the laundry owner, the police detained Alva and interrogated him.
In her statement to the police, Gowda’s daughter informed that her father had gone out with Alva a month ago. Boosting this, a worker in a hotel situated near the wine shop from where Alva had bought liquor on the fateful day, too informed the police that Gowda was accompanied by Alva.
Based on this statement, the police brought truth to the fore.
