Puttur, 13 Oct 2014: ‘A woman takes care of her family with love and care .Mother is largely responsible in shaping the future generation of this country. But unfortunately in our country women become victims of several problems. There is an urgent need to solve this problem in order to protect the rights of the women,’ said Fr Alfred J Pinto, correspondent of Mai De Deus Educational Institutions.
Fr Pinto was addressing the gathering in an awareness programme on Women Issues organised for the female staff of Puttur under Catholic Board of Education.
The resource person of the session Robinson D’Souza, former secretary to government of Karnataka, department of law spoke on sexual harassment on women and the law to prevent it. He also gave an insight on Right to Information Act.
St. Philomena PU College principal Fr Vijay Lobo and St Aloysius College former principal Fr Eugene Lobo were present.
Catholic Board of Education secretary Fr Jerald D’Souza welcomed the gathering. The head of department of political science Professor Venkateshwari proposed the vote of thanks. The head of department of English Bharathi Rai compered the programme.
