Kundapur, 7 Sep 2014: The students’ cabinet and students of St Mary’s College, here celebrated Teachers’ Day here on Friday September 5. The teaching and office staff including principal participated in the celebrations.
The teaching and office staff jointly inaugurated the programme by offering flowers to the portrait of the late Indian President and philosopher Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan here on Friday morning.
The teachers cut the cakes to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr Radhakrishnan.
The student Elita D’Souza spoke on the great qualities of Dr Radhakrishnan.
Brita D’Souza and Teens Sebastian shared their experiences of teachers and congratulated both teachers and office staff on behalf of all students.
Kannada teacher Nagaraj Shetty shared his teaching experiences.
The students held variety entertainment programmes besides sports competitions for the teachers and presented prizes to the winners.
Speaking on the occasion, the College principal Fr Praveen Amrut Martis said, ‘If you respect your teachers it is as good as worshiping God,’ said Fr Martis. He further said, ‘You all brought laurels to the teachers by bagging first place in taluk level throw ball competitions at the sideline of Teachers’ Day,’ said Fr Martis. He also thanked the students for bringing happiness to teachers and office staff.
The cabinet leader Pritam Carvalho welcomed the gathering. The cabinet secretary Asha Nair proposed vote of thanks. Jennifer D’Sa compered the programme.
