Kundapur, 28 Aug 2014: A workshop owner was critically wounded in a murder attempt by his own relative being reported here on Wednesday August 27.
Basil D’Souza, who owns Royal Metal Workshop, near Sangam Theater on national highway was seriously assaulted by his own relative Dolphy D’Souza, a resident of Anagalli, near here on Wednesday evening.
The critically wounded Basil was first taken to a private clinic nearby and later rushed to KMC Hospital, Manipal. The surgeons there performed surgeries on Basil onWednesday night itself, informed family sources.
The assaulter Dolphy had worked in Royal Metal Workshop in the past had come to meet Basil at the workshop on Wednesday evening. Meanwhile, as they were chatting, Dolphy pulled a knife wrapped in newspaper and hit him. When Dolphy was attempting a second chance, Basil’s son thwarted the attempt, while in the process he too got minor injuries. The workmen and locals chased Dolphy and handed over to the custody of police.
The town police presented Dolphy in front of the judge here on Thursday, who remanded to judicial custody.
Dolphy was employed at Royal Metal Workshop for many years, while he left his job over some trivial reasons. The past enmity and his unstable mind could have led him to commit such heinous crime, it was learned.
