Mangalore, 25 Aug 2014: It was heartbreak time for Pushparaj and Gouri couple for the second time in less than 24-hours. Having seen their second child - a boy, born on August 15, come back from the brink - about to be buried after doctors allegedly declared it dead, the couple had the misfortune of seeing it pass away in a private hospital in the city where it was brought for treatment. The child on Saturday had been taken to Chembugudde near Thokkottu for burial.
Pushparaj, the child’s father confirmed the development. The baby boy, a premature birth, was delivered by C-section at seven months and was weighing little more than 1.5 kilogram. The baby was kept in the ICU and on Saturday, the doctor in-charge declared that the baby was not alive, around afternoon. This couple from Kumpala had taken the baby for burial. When they put a few drops of milk, the grave digger told the couple the baby’s lips had opened.
Shocked, the parents in utter disbelief again put milk drops on the lips and the baby opened its mouth, indicating it was alive. The parents immediately took the infant to another hospital for care where it was said to be recovering. The couple working in Middle East had come to the city for delivery. Pushparaj however did not indicate how the infant died the second time round and if it was because of any infection or other medical condition it may have developed.
