Mangalore, 15 Aug 12014: Youth Red Cross Society (YRCS), a venture of Red Cross Society (RCS) to encourage blood donation among college students was inaugurated during a function held at Hotel Moti Mahal here on Thursday August 14.
It started when the chairperson of the youth red cross society and office bearers of council taking oath on extending humanitarian aid to the needy through the humanitarian outfit.
The blood bank officer and A J Hospital and Research Center Associate Professor Dr Arvind inaugurated the blood camp.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Arvind said, ‘I appreciate the staff and the students for coming forward in launching YRCS in the college. We are in desperate need of the blood,’ said Dr Arvind. He also urged more and more students to donate their blood to save the lives.
Dr Arvind further said, ‘Blood donation is a way where in a person without being a doctor can save the lives. One need not worry about being unhealthy after the donating because only 350 milliliters out of 5 liters will be taken from the body,’ said Dr Arvind.
Hotel Moti Mahal executive director Shyamprasad appreciated the efforts of the team of organizers led by Denzel D’Costa for a noble cause of RCS.
Over 50 persons including staff students voluntarily contributed their blood at the camp that was held soon after inaugural of YCRS.
