Puttur, 2 Aug 2014: At the joint aegis of women empowerment eell and women harassment cell of St Philomena College organised an awareness programme for girl students at their silver jubilee memorial hall here recently.
The College principal Professor Vishnu Bhat, in his presidential address said, ‘A women has right to education and also has right to stand for her justice. A programme like this will help the women to be aware of her rights.’
The resource person Fr Francis Assisi Almeida (LL M), parish priest of Sacred Heart Church, Mareel near here spoke about the need for women to be aware of the human rights and also to protect it. He said, ‘The Indian Constitution has endowed all the human rights required by an individual which are equally given to men and women without any discrimination. Therefore, none is superior or inferior but everyone is equal.’
Fr Francis further said, ‘Women is an important sector of the society and she should be treated with dignity.’
The women empowerment cell director Professor Venkateshwari K S and women harassment cell director Professor Premalatha were also present.
