Udupi, 2 Jun 2014: The youth and women hardly take interest in joining social welfare and voluntary organizations. The games indeed motivate them to take part in this regard, said the state urban development minister Vinay Kumar Sorake.
The minister Sorake was speaking after inaugurating cricket and throw ball competitions for men and women respectively of Billawa community at Nehru maidan, Palligudde, Katpady, near here on Sunday June 1. It was organized by Billawar Parishat Katpady ®.
The minister Sorake further said that the sports provides a platform for budding sportsmen and sports women to socialize and also hone their sporting skills, said minister Sorake.
Katpady gram panchayat president Vinay Ballal, Kote gram panchayat president Prashant Jattanna, S V S Vidhyavardak Sangh correspondent Mahesh Shenoy, ZP former president Katpady Shankar Poojary, ZP member Geetanjali Suvarna, TP member Srikar Anchan, Billawa leaders Dayanand Bangera, Srikar suvarna, Harschandra Amin, Shobha Hariyappa Poojary, Madhav R Palan, Deepak Kumar Yermal, Naveen Amin and Kishore Ambady were present on the occasion.
Udupi district Billawa Parishat president Shekar Karkera welcomed the gathering. The chief secretary Prabhakar Palan compered the programme.
