Udupi, 13 Mar 2014: The Founder’s Day was celebrated by Corporation Bank – Shirva branch, near here on Wednesday March 12. The Bank was founded by Udupi district’s renowned social activist and philanthropist Haji Abdul Saheb 109 years ago.
Shirva gram panchayat president Hasanabba Shaikh garlanded the portrait of Haji Abdul Saheb and motion for the programme.
Shirva branch manager Premanand Bhat welcomed the gathering and also briefed on the milestones achieved in terms of business at their branch.
The branch employee Shilpa Shet briefed on the new banking products.
Speaking on the occasion, Rotary Club International (RCI) district former assistant governor B Pundalika Marate said that Shirva branch has opened in the pre-Independence era and completes 77 years and has over Rs 215 crore of deposits, said Pundalika. He also urged the Board of Directors of Corporation Bank to devise a plan in the limits of primary health centre (PHC) at Shirva or at the limits of Shirva gram panchayat, in order to make the bank’s contributions time memorial.
The building owner of Shirva branch Sacchidanand Achar, retired principal S V Ganapati Bhat, entrepreneur Ummer Ismail, Ganeshotsav Committee president K Sundar Prabhu, entrepreneur Shodan Kumar Shetty Belman commended the services of branch manager and all the staff.
