Navi Mumbai, 31January 2010: The Koparkhairane police on Saturday arrested a computer engineer from Bangalore for allegedly e-mailing intimate photographs of his estranged wife to relatives and friends.
Yogesh Gundevar (29) also sent the pictures to his estranged wife Kirti Anandwar (28), a computer engineer working in London, and her father Dr Laxmikant Anandwar, a resident of Koparkhairane.
He was arrested after Dr Anandwar filed a complaint with the Koparkhairane police and his daughter filed an e-mail complaint.
Senior Police Inspector Arun Walture: “Gundevar and Kirti got married in May 2008. During their honeymoon, Gundevar reportedly started harassing his wife. He would beat her up and demand money. He also got money from her bank account transferred to his own account.”
The duo separated within 18 days of marriage.
Walture added: “Following their separation, Gundevar started sending e-mails of Kirti’s pictures taken during their honeymoon to relatives and friends. Even Kirti’s father received an e-mail.”
The father-daughter duo decided to take legal action when the harassment did not stop.
Walture said: “Following the complaint and verification of the e-mails, we picked up Gundevar from Bangalore, where he is employed at an IT firm, and arrested him on Saturday.”
