Udupi, 20 Oct 2013: The preparations are underway for the upcoming Paryaya celebrations at Kaniyoor mutt, here on Saturday October 19.
The traditional rituals of decorating the premises with chopped plantain tree a little above the earth and rice mura were already held with pomp and gaiety at the mutt.
Meanwhile, the huge copper vessels that corroded inside and needs fresh coating were handed over to age-old surviving professional Peter D’Souza who operates from Ambagilu, here by mutt administrator Nagaraj Acharya on the occasion.
Speaking to media persons, Peter said, ‘I have been polishing the vessels for all the seven mutts of Pejavar mutt, here since the past 20 years. It’s the second Parayaya of Kaniyoor Swami which he was fortunate to witness,’ said Peter. Besides, new copper vessels are made to order at the cost of Rs 6 lac which will be ready by end of December, added Peter.
Kaniyoor mutt governing council members Laxminarayan Rao, assistant Sudhindra Acharya, manager Srinivas and others were present on the occasion.
