Karkal, Oct 19, 2013 : The mobiles, visual media and internet has greater impact on youth community, the poverty is driving the girls into love jihad that is caused by lack of good upbringing by the parents. The women and child trafficking is going on unabated. If every mother brings up her child with moral values and tries legal means to wage struggle for social evils, the menace can be effectively curbed, said B Pundalika Marate, senior teacher of St Joseph’s School, Belman.
Pundalika Marate was the resource person, speaking during information workshop on curbing women and child trafficking that was held at the joint aegis of Jaycees Club International (JCI) – Belman, women welfare department and office of child welfare project officer of Karkal taluk, here on Friday October 18.
Pundalika urged the people to create awareness on the menace, in schools and colleges, village councils, women self-help-groups, in curbing the social evil.
ZP member Supreet Shetty in his inaugural address urged the women not to be lured by social evil forces.
Karkal taluk panchayat member Xavier D’Mello, Belman gram panchayat president Shankar Kundar Sooda, Belman – Lions Club president V K Rao Nandalike, Belman – RCI representative Sudhakar Rao were the chief guests of the occasion.
The child welfare project taluk designated officer Sita Ratna explained the objectives of workshop.
The child welfare zonal supervisor K Leelavati was present at the dais.
Belman – JCI president Raghunat Nayak Punaru welcomed the gathering. Yashodar Yermal proposed vote of thanks.
