Mangalore, 24 Sep, 2013 : The central survey team that arrived in Dakshina Kannada district to gather information of losses caused by excess rains held a meeting with department officials at Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Tuesday September 24 morning.
The union home ministry joint secretary R K Srivastav chaired the meeting.
The regional transport officer and highways Sanjay Garg, central planning Commission senior research officer Muralidharan, Tobacco Development Board acting director Dr K Manoharan were present.
Deputy Commissioner N Prakash offered information of 18 people died owing to excess rains, besides 16 cattle perished, 909 homes collapsed, 72 hectares of crop destroyed in floods, 547.35 kilometers of road damaged, 39 bridges and culverts were damaged and 21 minor irrigation works were damaged in the torrential rains in Dakshina Kannada district. b
