Udupi, 04 Sep, 2013 : The district labour officer led group of policemen, child welfare department officer, Spoorthidhama activist rescued a child laborer employed as domestic help in a apartment located at Kinnimulky, here on Tuesday September 3.
The child labor is identified as Class VII dropout from Hunsehalli, N R Pura, Chikmagalur district. ‘I was dropped out of school owing to acute poverty in the family and was sent to look after a baby in a family living in an apartment at Udupi,’ said the girl to the district labor officer. However, the head of the family, where the child labor was employed has a different story.
We will ascertain her age from the school records and if found below the age of 14 years, we will take strict action against her employers, informed the district labor officer Devaraj.
The child laborer was handed over to the care of Spoorthidhama Rehabilitation Center, Koteshwar, near here.
