Hassan, 20 Jun 2013: The living condition of Dalits in Haradanahalli, native village of the former PM H Deve Gowda which was known as model village that lies in Holenarasipura taluk, near here is miserable with least regard for their lives. It clearly proves the failure of governance of taluk and district administration, alleged Dalit leader and Madigadandora Samiti district president T R Vijayakumar.
Dalit Sangarsha Samiti (DSS) district leader Abdul Samad, Dalit Sahitya Parishat district president Hettoor Nagaraj expressed their deep concern over the plight of Dalits living in Haradanahalli.
T R Vijay Kumar and other Dalit leaders visited the bereaved family of Dalit woman – Sannamma who was killed in a leopard attack 3 days ago. They also held talks with the villagers and listened to their grievances.
The villagers explained their hardships and fear of wild animal attacks. The forest department has not taken any measures to trap the leopard that has been threatening about 15 families who are living without any basic amenities in this model village.
The Dalit leaders urged the district-in-charge minister to visit their village and instruct the department officers to provide essential basic facilities.
The taluk Dalit leader Manju, Satish, Mahesh and villagers were present at the occasion.
