Hassan, 15 Jun 2013: CITU staged a sit-in in front of the office of Taluk office here on Friday June 14, urging the state authorities to fulfill the various demands of laborers’.
The protesters held a rally that began from Hemavati statue, here passing through N R roundabout and concluded at Taluk office, urging the state authorities to control the inflation so that it would not cause distress to common folks, to create employment opportunities by strictly implementing labor laws, to set up financial institution to cater to the needs of laborers towards social security, to award equal wages to contract-laborers in industries and factories.
CITU will call for nationwide protest shortly over the union government’s proposal to reduce 27 types of subsidies including on food and LPG instead of rectifying the differences in ration for BPL and APL cardholders.
CITU district chief secretary G P Satyanarayan, vice president Prakash, taluk secretary Arvind and others were present at the occasion.
