Udupi, 21 May 2013 : The date will be set for the election of council office bearers after holding a meeting with top officers of urban development department on Wednesday May 22, said the state newly-appointed urban development minister Vinay Kumar Sorake.
Addressing the media persons, on his first visit to the district after becoming the minister, here on Monday May 20, Vinay Kumar Sorake said that the decision on reservation of key office bearers will be take and also the date for holding the elections will be announced shortly, said minister Sorake.
The Congress manifesto is the holy text that has to be fulfilled by the ministers without fail, said minister Sorake.
The issue of water crisis in cities and towns across the state is being discussed at the first session, while the officers are instructed to supply drinking water in tankers utilizing drought Funds at the earliest. Besides, measures will be taken to repair bore wells and to dig new bore wells, added minister Sorake.
The undivided Dakshina Kannada district has 13 rivulets that empty 2,000 TMC water in Arabian Sea. If this is well utilized the water woes can be capped with proper long-range project, stressed minister Sorake.
