Wildfire destroys Several Acres of Vegetation at Bannanje

Udupi, 15 May 2013 :  Several acres of dry grass was gutted in an wildfire at Bannanje, near here on Tuesday May 14, while the local youth and fire fighters succeeded in extinguishing the fire that was threatened to spread to neighbouring houses.

 

 

 

 

 

The wildfire occurred on a large disused plot that lies behind Sharada Hotel on National Highway 66, near here at about 3.00pm on Tuesday.  The heavy gales helped the wildfire to spread rapidly threatening to engulf Shani temple and neighbouring houses.

The fire fighters including the local youth helped in curbing the fire.
