Udupi, 28 Apr 2013: On the one hand its soaring temperature in the peak summer..! On the other hand, the heat of upcoming assembly election is also spiraling. The groups of activists from different political parties arrive on door-to-door campaign. Amidst the chaos, moderate rains coupled with hailstorm arrived in the locality on Friday April 26 evening. The unexpected rains indeed cooled the temperature and boosted the spirits.
The lightning struck the electricity power station at Pamboor, near Padubelle which is the significant power grid supplying electricity from Manipal through Alevoor. The energy supplier state-run MESCOM divisional officer of Shirva – Vikram, Kaup divisional officer Avinash, Pamboor power station in-charge Srinivas Poojary, Bantakal MESCOmM workmen Sunil Shetty, Pradeep and other personnel restored the power supply in Shirva locality by Friday 11.30pm.
The road linking Shirva – Manchakal – Katpady was inundated owing to moderate rains. The Public Works Department (PWD) dumped building materials to construct culvert on this vital road, but so far it remained incomplete due to the apathy of department and peoples’ representatives.
