Udupi, 21 Apr 2013: The eye check up camps is being organized in rural villages, in order to create general awareness on eye sight and to enable free treatment to poor patients. The city based Prasad Netralaya has imported laser blended technology by importing latest machinery from Germany at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore, which would easily restore the far sight and short sight, said Prasad Netralaya managing director and eye surgeon Dr Krishna Prasad K.
Dr Krishna Prasad was speaking after inaugurating free eye check up camp that was jointly organized by Madwa Vadiraj Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal, NSS, Red Cross, Rotary Club, Prasad Netralaya and Netra Jyoti Charitable Trust ® at Madwa Vadiraj Institute of Technology and Management auditorium, here on Saturday April 20.
‘It’s a first experience to organize the eye check up camp in an engineering college. Prasad Netralaya will offer 30 percent discount to the college student in laser treatment,’ said Dr Krishna Prasad.
The district blind eliminating department officer and eye surgeon Dr Nityanand Nayak was the chief guest of the occasion.
The Institute principal Professor Dr Radhakrishna S Aithal presided the programme.

Over 120 students benefited out of the camp; out of which 11 were advised to undergo cataract surgery and 12 were qualified for free spectacles.
