Kundapur, 30 March 2013: Good Friday is the day of fast, penance, sacrifice and prayer and Catholics all over observe Good Friday with prayer and observe fast as well to commemorate the death of Jesus on Cross.
Parishioners of Kundarpure Rosary Church too observed the Good Friday devotedly. The congregation gathered at 4.00pm to take part in the passion of Christ. The evening service began with a way of the cross. The cross was real about 25 feet heavy cross carried by many members alternatively and observed the penance and suffering Jesus went through during his last day as a human walking through entire 15 Stations of the Cross.
This was followed by Veneration of Holy Cross and liturgical services. The first part involved scripture readings. Rev. Fr. Anil in his homily stressed on living a good life that Jesus has shown us through his humble example. He said that there is no point in merely carrying the cross, conducting the Way of the Cross and engaged devotedly in the liturgical services but it is very important to live a life worthy to please Jesus and love one another. We must remember that Jesus sacrificed Himself on cross for us to make way to heaven and it is our duty to obey his commands and follow his teachings all the time.
Second part of the liturgical services, prayer of the faithful were held wherein special prayers were held for the Catholic Church, Pope, Bishops, Clergy and for the sick.
The third part of Good Friday Celebrations was Veneration of the Cross and kissing of the cross by congregation followed by distribution of Holy Communion. The services were concelebrated with Rev Fr. Praveen Martis.
