Udupi, 04 Mar 2013: Mumbai based Jayasrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti (JSKPPS) - NGO that had expressed open support for setting up of thermal power plant in Nandikoor village near here has shown its double standard by opposing thermal power plant in Niddodi village of Dakshina Kannada district.
JSKPPS is once again in news at the backdrop of CM Jagdish Shetter’s recommendation letter to union energy minister Jyotiraditya Sindhia that Niddodi village is the suitable choice to set up thermal power plant. JSKPPS steadfastly supported to set up thermal power plant in Nandikoor in the past, despite the widespread opposition of local populace and elected representatives.
At the recent developments, JSKPPS agrees that they had supported the project on the assurance that it will have no impact on environment, since UPCL authorities will install latest machineries to neutralize the environmental damage, but that was not fulfilled by the authorities. Therefore, it has urged the elected representatives of undivided Dakshina Kannada district including the local populace to oppose the proposal to set up thermal power plant in Niddodi.
JSKPPS convened a meeting attended by Tonse Jayakrishna Shetty, Dr B M Hegde, Harish Kumar Shetty, Jagdish Adikari, Felix D’Souza, Rons Bantwal, Nityanand D Kotian, I R Shetty and others, has taken a stance to oppose the proposal of setting up thermal power plant in Niddodi.
