Udupi, 03 Mar 2013: The union government is contemplating to set norms in order to grant direct funds in the accounts ofmunicipal bodies, town councils and town panchayats, said Rajya Sabha member and AICC general secretary Oscar Fernandes.
Oscar Fernandes was speaking during the releasing of Congress manifesto for civic polls at district Congress Bhavan here on Saturday March 2.
Congress-led union government reigns in Center, and there are signs that Congress has prospects to come back to reign in Karnataka. If Congress reigns in Udupi town council, the integral development of district would become a reality, said Oscar. He also expressed hope that the voters will vote for Congress in regaining the reign in town council, hoped Oscar.
He also laid emphasis on the prospect of tourist hub for Udupi district since significant temples and tourist spots are located. The infrastructural developments will tap the potential of tourism to earn larger share of income.
