Moodubelle, 28 Feb 2013: The Second Year PUC students of St. Lawrence Composite PU College were given warm send off on February 25, 2013, who will be preparing for their final examination scheduled to start from the second week of March 2013.
Prior to the formal send off function, Mrs. Theresa D’Almeida, retired Head Nurse from a reputed hospital in Doha-Qatar and presently residing in Moodubelle gave a motivational talk to the students which would enable them to face the forthcoming examination with positive outlook. During her talk, Mrs. Theresa D’Almeida highlighted the following points: importance of goal setting, time management, need of a time-table, maintaining one’s physical and mental health, the need to pray, not to waste time and to work hard.
As the member of St. Lawrence College Management Committee and a counselor in the college, Mrs. Theresa D’Almeida pointed out the advantages of taking admission in the degree college following their results.
Earlier, Fr. Paul Sequeira, principal of the PU College introduced Mrs. Theresa D’Almeida to the students and was given a memento.
During the formal send off function that followed the talk by Mrs. Theresa D’Almeida, three students from arts, commerce and science shared their experience for the last two years in St. Lawrence PU College. They appreciated good environment for learning in the college. They said that they were given full opportunity to develop their hidden talents through various activities.
On behalf of the lecturers Mr. Larsen D’Souza, lecturer in Political Science gave the students tips for their future life and called the students to be successful in their lives which will be an honour to the institution.
Two lecturers, Mr. Kamlakar and Mrs. Shamala promised the students special prizes if they scored 90 percent and above marks in the preparatory examination and the prizes were distributed by the principal.The outgoing students gave their contribution amounting to Rs. 3970/-towards the Students’ Welfare Fund. The principal accepted the amount. The interest from the fund would be given to one of needy students.Mrs. Shamala guided the students how they have to go about during the examination time as the exam centre is in the Poornaprajna College, Udupi.
Principal, Fr. Paul Sequeira in his presidential address thanked all the students for their cooperation. He thanked them for their contribution for the Students Welfare Fund. He conducted a short prayer session where the students were required to close their eyes and remember all their teachers, parents, management members, donors and pray for them. He blessed and motivated them to do well in the final examination.
