Udupi, 12 Feb 2013: The local residents of Shirva staged a protest by pushing the automobiles here on Sunday February 10 urging the concerned authorities in order to undertake urgent repairs to deplored Shirva – Padav – Kallottu – Mudu Mattaru Road.
The protesters alleged that the agrarian based community lives in these villages who are inconvenienced to transport their farm produce since the roads are in deplored condition. The students find it difficult to reach their schools and colleges in time. The physically challenged had to be carried without a choice. Despite several pleas were made to peoples’ representatives to repair the roads, nothing has been done. The peoples representatives who come during poll campaign does not return once the poll over.
Meanwhile, the protesters cautioned that if the concerned authorities does not take early steps in restoring the roads, massive protest will be held on Thursday February 14.
