Mangalore, 25 Sep 2012: The body of a person aged around 60-years was found with the throat slit open in a house at Gorigudda-Ujjodi under Mangalore South police station limits on Tuesday. Police identified the victim as Ganesh Ram Suvarna, resident of Karkala in Udupi district and president of Pumpwell Sarvajanika Sri Ganeshotsava Samiti. Police said Ganesh normally came to the city to supervise and organise Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in the city.
Manish Kharbikar, city police chief who visited the crime scene told that police got report of the incident around 6pm. Stating that fingerprint experts were called in, Manish said there is no immediate clue on the motive or reasons for the gruesome incident. "Apart from a few drawers of the bed that were found open, nothing else apparently was amiss," he said adding investigations would help shed light on the reasons and motive.
