Kundapur, 18 August 2012: Independence Day celebrated in Our Lady of Rosary Church, Kundapur on August 15, 2012 after the solemn mass of the feast of the Assumption of Mother Mary. The flag hoisting ceremony was conducted through the Catholic Sabha of Kundapur.
After receiving the honour from the NCC Cadets, Rev. Fr. Anil D’Souza, Dean of Kundapur Deanery hoisted the Indian national flag. In his message, Rev. Fr. Anil D’Souza said that whether the country is genuinely free as people are witnessing all kinds of problems such as corruption, poverty, hunger and terrorism. It is important to preserve our freedom by fighting against these of anti-national forces and cultivating moral values.
On this occasion students who had scored distinction marks in catechism and anual examinations were honoured by giving them certificates and prizes. Vinod Crasta, president of the Catholic Sabha, Johnson Almeida, the former president, Michael Braganza, the vice president of the Parish Council and secretary Soni D’Costa were present for the function. Wilson Oliviera, vice president of Catholic Sabha compeered the programme and secretary Shanti Carvalho proposed the vote of thanks.
