Blessing Of Vehicles In Pamboor Church

Pamboor, 29 July 2012: Blessings of the vehicles was organized  in the premises of the Holy Cross Church by ICYM and Catholic Sabha,  Pamboor on Sunday, July 29, 2012 after the morning Mass. The president of the function was Rev.Fr.Charles Lewis, presided over the programme. The Guest of Honour was  Mrs.Saritha Alva, Vice Principal of St. Lawrence College, Moodubelle who is also one of the parishioners of the Holy Cross Church.

 
Mr.Fedrick Menezes welcomed the gathering  and also compeered the program. Mrs. Saritha Alva  honored the sponsors of the programme.

 

 

 

Speaking at this occasion, Mrs.Saitha Alva narrated the life of St. Christopher who is the patron of Vehicles. Christopher was a strong person and a helpful man. He used to help the people to cross the river. One fine day a small boy came to him and asked him to be taken from one side to the river to the other side. As Christopher carried the boy, he found that the weight of the boy went on increasing and as such Christopher could not  bear his weight. As he was crossing the river, Christopher told the boy that as he was crossing the river carrying the him he felt like the entire world was over his shoulder. The boy replied, “yes you are right you not only took the world over your shoulders but also the creator of the world.” Thus, the little boy revealed that he was Jesus Christ.

 
Mrs. Sarita also reminded the gathering that vehicles have increased so also the accidents. She asked the people and vehicle owners to follow the traffic rules.

 
Fr. Charles Lewis blessed the vehicles that were parked in the church premises.

 
The programme ended with the proposal of the vote of thanks by Ronald Sequeira.
